Our Process
Always fruiting bodies, only
We use only mushroom fruiting bodies, the above ground reproductive part of the fungal organism. We believe in the power of ancestral and folk medicine, and it is the above ground fruiting bodies of mushrooms that our ancestors knew as food and medicine.
Mycelium based mushroom products are often produced by growing out the mycelium on grain, and this grain often makes it into the final product. There are complex debates about whether these grains should be considered ‘filler’ or understood as a medicine in their own right, but in the end we feel best knowing that we’re working with the mushroom’s fruiting body alone, nothing else.
Crystalline solvent
We gather pristine wild spring water straight from the source into glass jugs. This water retains the energetic signature of the earth and is regularly tested for purity.
We believe that the mineral-rich, structured nature of wild water is the most life affirming medium for the creation of our remedies.
Under pressure
We use high pressure to break down the cell walls of woody mushrooms, accessing as many of the 1,3 and 1,6 beta glucans as possible. We time our steps with the intention of protecting the structural integrity of the special triple helix forms of these polysaccharides.
Clean spirits
We use only organic cane spirits, ensuring that our final product does not support industries that co-opt the sacred seeds of life for profit and power.
Many larger companies use plastic in their steeping processes; we always and only use glass, never plastic.
